Came over for lunch with the family so I got to try quite a few dishes.. the nasi lemak was pretty good but the beef redang was too tough. Chye Poh omelette was surprisingly good! Soya sauce chicken was well marinated as well. However, you can skip the curry fish head. The measly portion of fish is not worth the price and the curry was way too salty.
Another huge disappointment was the service standard. Service staff had no sense of urgency getting the food out during peak hours. Hence I took away a star for that. If I’m in the area I wouldn’t mind popping by it everywhere else is crowded but I definitely wouldn’t head down just for this.
Consistently good local Singapore/Malaysian dishes served by friendly staff.
2021-05: For takeaway they have a nifty container that keeps the curry and rice separate. The prata though can get a little damp in the CT labelled box.
Though themed along the lines of hawker food this is definitely restaurant style dining. The unique dishes are the attraction rather than the ubiquitious “curry”. Favourite is the dry curry & lyche/sprite drink.
Nice food and comfortable environment. Food comes fast …
It’s a great little place for local curry in Westgate mall. Food was tasty and great for an affordable price! Love their set meals, that will easily help you to decide if you are not sure what you are going to eat. I really enjoyed it except for the fact that they are short in staff. I feel sorry for the one lady who does everything from seating the guest, taking orders, making the drinks and doing the cashiering as well. And Oh! Even serving your food and cleaning the table as well. She is good at what she’s doing but I think it’s not fair for her to do everything. Never get her name but she is lovely! She can still compose herself over the pressure of the crowd. More than 5 stars for her service.
Ordered curry chicken rice and beef brisket noodles. Curry is nice with a few (about 4~5) pieces of chicken, comes with very soft potatoes! Beef brisket was tender, probably cooked for a long time (served with a few pieces of carrots and radish). Noodles are quite different from the types that you’d usually get in Singapore (couldn’t pinpoint what noodles were used, but it’s actually quite tasty!).
Tried the cendol here as well, and you’d actually find a number of “attap chee”s served in the cendol as well besides the typical red bean and green jelly. Probably not the best in town but still I’d think it’s still quite fragrant. More to the sweet side (especially when you’d consumed all ice and left with the melted sugar water).
Overall would say that it’s worth a try for these three dishes.
Have not been here for over a year, not too crowded the food was nice but not too large portion. Price is mid range.
Curry fragrant, sedup!
咖喱香,sedup!
Nice traditional home cook food.
Food is good. They even gave free tub of curry although we did not order curry dishes
serves traditional simple fare especially food with curries.price is a bit pricey for such simple food.i had the fish cutlet noodle curry which is just average.fish cutlet is flaky and the noodles are those instant noodles from pkt.i also had the beehiam bun as a side ,which is also average.
place was not crowded when I went, which was around 6pm.
Yummy homey dishes for a quick fix. Recommend their nasi lemak and chicken thigh sets. They do lunch set specials too! Menu seems to have been revamped.
If you want to eat your curry in a differnce way, come and try it out the way you like, after all the curry here are not very spicy.
Recommend to try the Black Sesame Ball, is delicious, but check the price first, it is $1.60 per piece.
Tried the Dry Laksa Goreng, is good, but a little set back is that, is do not come with the cockles.
Quality varieties of curry & many other dishes with dessert available at reasonable price.
Must try to believe !
Son was very happy, felt food was delicious.
Food is nice and not so crowded
When u crave for SG local food with some fusion creation.. e.g. dry Laksa which a bit looks like spaghetti, go for it.
No change in menu.
Have mad multiple visits to curry times before but this is my first time eating the weekday lunch set here in Westgate. Sadly the fried curry maggi goreng was slightly disappointing- noodles were oily and not that much taste. Food took a while to arrive also. The ABC soup and lime juice were okay. We usually come for the tea break set as it’s very worth it and their buns are good. The staff here at westgate are nice and friendly, though they look quite shorthanded during lunch time.
Nice
After renovation, service is poorer. Slow in urshering us even when the waitresses saw us and they are not occupied (the restaurant is quote empty). Hope can improve.
Retro decoration, good food, good chef, waiter
装修复古,食物不错,厨师好,服务员也好
Nice food
The curry is pretty good, though a bit pricey
Great food. Value for money
The curry tastes good, the five spices are very authentic, and Coffee Chendol is different. It is a must-try for people who love coffee and Chendol.
咖喱味道好,五香很正宗,Coffee Chendol 与众不同,是爱喝咖啡又喜欢Chendol 的人不防一试。
Rude waitresses.
Service at Westgate branch is super slow, we order egg fried rice and sweet and sour fish rice, we waited almost half and hour even not much people during lunch time.
First time to curry times and disappointed by the food. We ordered 2 set lunches comprising crispy fish noodles and chicken curry with loaf, and ala carte vegetarian curry fried rice.
The veg curry fried came with only bits of long beans and carrots and a few pieces of veg fried meat nuggets.
The set at $9.90 nett only comes with a small drink (drink of the day was chin cao). The veg fried rice labeled as Recommended $7.50 was the worst of the 3 dishes.
Service staff also had a bored and monotonous look on their faces.
Been here on a few occasions. The staff here practised strict CoVid19 protocols. For this, I must say it looks good on them, the company and for their customers. What is most important, the staff here are always friendly and deliver excellent service. Always looking cheerful and bubbly. A nice place to have an afternoon tea. And the local delights served are equally good as well. So I must say, this outlet have done well in many aspects.
Delicious and reasonable price for lunch
Affordable price
亲民价格
Ordered nasi lemak. Nothing to shout about. The fried chicken is nice and fish cake is rather soft. Black coffee is fragrant though. Will be back for the coffee only next time. Price is on the high side.
We had a good dinner here, without the crowds nowadays. So we got seated quite quickly. God nonya style curry dishes. The prata was surprisingly good, crirpy and flavourful.
The curry dishes are all damn good, thanks to the similar recipe as old chang kee.
One of the best curry chicken with rice
Ok
Nice food and ambience. Will come again.
Variety of food increased over time. As usual, the prata is still very decent after years maintaining it’s standard. But $1.50 for the not very large piece is bit pricey. Taste of curry still pretty decent. Beef brisket meat was kinda tough and not tender and needs to chew for quite awhile.
Concept of shop is very local 70s/80s style. Service is just average. Oh free local biscuit near counter area usually, good to reminisce younger days!
This place serve the old fashioned dishes of yesterday like curry chicken etc. Food is good.
The usual local delicacies.
Ok ok only
Food is really tasty. I ordered curry chicken set which is very worth.
Tried the curry chicken with prata $10.90 promotion. Prata is frozen type and curry chicken is generally average. Customer service standard is good.
Happened to pass by the shop with very nice posters and pictures which made me go in to make a take-away order purchase. 1) very lousy attendant with no basic manners 2) very long wait even when there’s not a lot of people 3) the food doesn’t do justice to their pictures 4) based on food service price quality, worse than hawker but situated in a shopping centre.
Good
Great services
Ordered chicken curry and dry laksa. The chicken is quite disappointing as u would expect the meat to be soft after boiling/cooking in a pot for a long time. Something must have gone wrong in their cooking process.
The dry laksa is nice but the chicken meat could have been replace with prawn for the real laksa taste.
Overall quite disappointing as it didn’t lift up the to “curry” times expectation.
I like the winter melon soup and the chap chye.
Located in Westgate Mall.
There are also non curry dishes being sold here.
Wide choices of local dishes to choose from.
Prices are higher than hawker centres, but still are acceptable.
Service was acceptable.
Will definitely go back again.
A good place to enjoy a cup of coffee too.
A very good place to eat out if you are just look for a simple meal. Curry chicken as signature dish was really good. It’s a bit spicy too so come prepared. The taste therefore is very authentic.
Nostalgic food
…
Cool place.Staffs friendly and service fast. Prices reasonable.
Great food and eating places
set meal value for money
The nasi lemak is delicious
椰浆饭很好吃 …
Nice food
Taste alright
I m v happy w t friendly service. I always choose to walk here fr finishing my shopping etc to have my meal.
Bubor chacha better now not that sweet like previous times
Great bento sets and good seat spacing.
Mee soup nice & tasty
Nice local dishes, lots to choose from. Not top notch quality but you need to set your expectations in advance. It is Old Chang Kee after all, not a 5 star chain restaurant. Service is poor, prices are reasonable for quality of the food. Good for a tasty quick bite.
Wow
Ok quality but expensive
It certainly didn’t taste like the curry noodles of old: the curry was very watered down!
Nice.
It’s worth having coffee time with friends during their happy hours from 2.30pm to 5pm, having promo snacks and nice coffee..
Nice food and nice atmosphere
Nice
Good ambience. Ate the signature curry with rice, tastes fairly ok.
Overall 4 stars as taste and portion doesnt matchup to price
Delicious curry and affordable food.
Nice presentation and free cookies are a good option while waiting for food.
出品不错,免费饼干在等待食物的时候是个不错的选择。
Yummy
Repeated orders
Love the satay set
And NDP special
I like what they have to offer
Serving time can be improve especially during non crowded period
4 of us went there at about 9.10pm, after being rejected by other restaurants cause is near to closing time. Surprise to be welcomed by the attendant. Helpful staff try to understand what we need, ordered coffee, she reminded me is late night already, are you able to sleep after this…(heart warming). Tasty curry with very nice scones like bread. Very enjoyable meal.
Nice food and easy to find
Traditional Malaysian food at it best
Good food waiting.for you
Serving good local cuisine
Great food.
Good customer service and free cookies for people who eat here and good food try the sambal chicken rice
Must try their curry batang fish fillet
The food is good, the price is ok, it is worth getting together with friends
菜色不错,价钱OK,值得三两好友相聚
Disorganized
Very decent meal. The chicken satay is good and not burnt which is a big plus.
The NDP special meal is of good value and you get to try out several dishes at one go.
The curry is not too spicy and the chicken meat is tender. The vege is nicely done and I love the egg which the yolk still remain liquid.
Keep up the good job, i will be back again
Food was ok. Curry taste watered down. Another halal option in Westgate
Their famous curry chicken dish was just ok and is over $10
Nice decent local food. Finished up my chicken curry within minutes.
Really love the ambience and decoration of this place which brings people back to 60s Singapore.
I really love browsing through the menu, it’s like looking through an old photo album, full of memories!
Branding of this whole eatery is en pointe.
We had curry chicken and nasi lemak. This place deserves higher ratings because the curry is quite authentic and tasty, the chicken is oh so tender, and the chilli of the nasi lemak is the right original taste. The ikan bills peanuts are fried to crispy level. The rice is just nice, not too overpowering of coconut taste, just nice. Service is fast even though we went during busy lunch hour. All in all, very satisfied.
May get crowded during peak hours and have to share table. Food is ok traditional plates n bowl used. Nostalgia.
yummy curry.
Great tastes
The curry set is very worth it!
Atmosphere is nice and relax, nice chinese oldies playing in the background. Price of items are not that cheap but not overly expensive except for plain prata which is too expensive and with too much margin. The portion of the curry rice is less than your typical chicken rice portion. You end up finishing the rice but left with a few pieces of chicken. U can ask for addons of rice but guess it would have been better if in the first place gave the norm or more than what was given to me. If not maybe should have chosen the bread option, not sure if would be better. The curry is not spicy not sure if can make it more spicy and it is on the heavy side or some would call thick curry so u may not be able to handle more than one portion. The hanging birdcage are a nice touch especially for older generations who loves to take their pets out in the morning for singalongs. May come back another time to try out other dishes they have.
Affordable but food is average
Cool Place to chill and relax while enjoying their awesome food.
Service is fast & food is up to expectation. The curry bun is so fluffy & moist
Curry is thick and flavourful. Bit expensive at 8.5$
lovely
Curry Times (by Old Chang Kee) @ Westgate. Shop setting and foods are very traditional. Quite nice. Locate between link bridge from Westgate to Jem.
Update on Nov2017
easily overlook this place but have to say that their nasi lemak was good
Food acceptable but a bit pricey
Overpriced dismal food
Not need long queue compared to other restaurant at the same mall. But the food taste is really good
Nice curry and a variety of other food. Coffee chendol is nice too!
Their signature Curry chic has dropped their quality compared to a year back. The curry had the raw taste of masala. Their bo-bo-cha-cha is a must to try! Rich & good amount of quantity
Nice home cooked tasting dishes. Friendly ladies who are kind with young kids.
The Bubur Cha cha is a must try! Pretty satisfied eating there. Will definitely come there again to try out other dishes
Expected to have a tasty curry in town especially at WG, and found this Curry House restaurant to fill my starving stomach.
Taste okay so so, but chicken meats were still tasted okay, curry full of powdery smell, not really like it. However after eating this signature curry chicken set which caused my stomach flu in an hour time, believed that could be improper of good food freshness management. I will turn up with such upset stomach whenever I had eaten something not fresh and/or left keep warm without reheating the food before consuming them.
Environment wise still clean n neat place to dine in. Full of diners during lunch hours by 1400.
Service wise was normal and nothing specially good from the service crews.
Up to you guys if u think to give a try, but not to me for any next visit, once is enough with bad experience.
Nice place to have dinner with family. Chicken curry is most recommended. Fish head curry was abit disappointing.. diluted with layer of floating oil. Other must-try are coffee/tea/soy milk chandol. Personally prefer the soy milk version as it is less sweet with very intense beany taste! The dry laksa was flavourful too, but can be a bit too rich if it wasn’t being shared. The buns was ok but nth much to shout out. Stir-fried eggplant and ladies finger were both tasty but came in small portion. Overall great place and will re-visit
CNY special
authentic and delicious, reasonably-priced as well 🙂
Great hawker delights after shopping banking cinemas library entertainments and amenities. Clean tidy relaxing orderly spacious lounge atmosphere with great views coffee pastries and tea. Free wifi. Freshly prepared healthy ingredients with tender loving caring skillful cooking and professional warm services. Conveniently located in the neighbourhood heartland of Westgate with walking distances from J Cube Big Box IMM shopping centre JEM next to Jurong East MRT station and bus interchange with plenty of dinning shopping banking supermarkets library postage community centre cinemas entertainment and amenities nearby. Friendly fast attentive cosy comfy welcoming ambience for romantic intimates groups students tourists Expats locals visitors and families.
Delicious Peranakan foods at reasonable prices. Loved their Curry Chicken, Nasi Lemak, roti prata and chicken pies.
Friendly service too.. …
Weekday lunch set comes with main + side + drink at $10.9~$12.9.
Dry laksa is the best!!! Highly recommended!
The fried curry mee comes with nice crispy chicken but the mee is comparable to Koka Curry Instant Noodles… like cooked with chilli/curry powder. I was expecting the flavour to be like the curry they sell but nope.
Their teh o kosong is quite diluted, doesnt taste nor smell fragrant of tea.
Delicious desserts and nice chicken curry with bread. Yummy
Food is not bad but the wait is long!
Just don find any special abt this place and food.
Yeh!! Love curry times, i like the nasi lemak
Nasi lemak was nice, but dessert was a bit disappointing.
Came here for the curry chicken. Very tasty.
The chicken in their laksa tasted like frozen chicken as it had an awful taste. Disappointed that they resorted to using cheap frozen chicken instead of fresh chicken. This is not restaurant standard.
Ok. Basic lunch.
Old Chang Kee’s cafe, while showcasing their signature curry (they claim that no coconut is added to their curry), also features other items like nonya chap chye and omelette. The soya chicken noodle is quite good.
The signature curry chicken comes with a choice of bread, roti prata, or steam rice. While the curry is nice, it can get a bit much, so my suggestion is to order that to share.
Service is efficient but not particularly warm or friendly, so go there for your curry fix, don’t expect too much, and all will be fine.
I always come here for the buns! The sardine buns are my favorite. The curry buns are good too. Once in a while, I get their egg tarts. Go earlier in the day cause the buns usually sold out by end day!
Ok only la, very expensive place to eat simple food
Nice place
First time trying curry time..
Ordered curry chicken, curry beef and curry vege..
3 different types of curry with 3 Different types of taste..
Curry chicken – thick, not spicy.. Chicken (drum stick meat) very soft and tender.. Nice
Curry beef – come with pineapple taste – extra fruit sour/sweet tast.. Beef is superb.. Very very soft.. Very nice
Curry vege – curry with 虾米 taste.. Not bad at all..
Fired chicken wings – nice as well..
Restaurant is clean and staffs are friendly.
Overall experience.. Very nice!!
Got to visit them again!
Okay place for a quick meal, but every dish here is somehow spicier than that from other places
Tastes like home cooking, except that it’s actually commercial.
Nice food comes with a bit of a mark up just for that home cooked taste.
Love the laksa goreng! Tasty food that taste like home cooked
Good curry
Like the nostalgic wall decor, settings. Round tables are more widely spaced.
Fried chicken at first tasted OK, then pepperish. We had the robot machine serving our dishes..
Like the Hainanese chap chye.
Standard of dry curry chicken has dropped.
The food were okay, the chicken is too dry, both soup and broiled chicken. The fish is nice. Quite big, can fit for 4 pax
Love the food there
Nice chendol but pricy.
Not too crowded during lunch time. Curry is usually appetising, though it’s not that spicy and strong.
Nice place to having dinner and gathering with friend. Food set a bit pricy buy portion quiet big . Overall is good.
Nice! Had my dinner here. Food served fast and taste good.
Love the interior and vibe! I wish the chendol coffee was at least sweet. It was just coffee notes . Was hoping the bitterness to be balance by chendol note. Curry chicken w bun great as always, same standards as other outlets! …
like their food and environment, price is acceptable
Dry laksa goreng is surprisingly delicious ! Sinful but totally worth the calories.
Authentic home-style curry.
V good
I’ve given these guys a couple of chances, but I think this shall be the last.
1. Service is always slow. Nobody watches the queue for customers. Invariably, what happens is everybody realizes nobody’s tending to them, and they just go in and find a seat. And then next comes trying to get the attention of a staff. But remember, nobody is looking out for new customers.
2. 10.90++ for these? Couple of scoops, and all the meat will be gone. And you’ll be left with a bowl of rice, and a “free drink”.
3. Dishonest overcharging. This establishment should go into a list of nickel-and-dining dishonest establishments that have dishonest PoS systems. The correct amount should have been 12.83 – and the first receipt that the cashier printed out for me showed this amount. But when it comes to the actual payment, these guys claim that even if I pay by credit card, they can’t charge the exact amount and *must* charge 12.85! (see picture of receipts).
Great food as always. Delicious food with a bit of a price tag depending on how much you’re eating. (roughly $10-15 per pax). The honey lemon aloe vera was surprisingly refreshing. I’d also recommend the signature curry chicken dish!
Best kampong food
…
I like the curry a lot but the nasi lemak is the best. The environment is nice. Got large table to big crowd. Food price is reasonable.
Good variety of food. Fast service. Tasty too.
Laksa goreng was tasty but on the dry side
