I have seen this around for many years and I regret not trying this earlier! We had one Hae Bee 5 Treasures which is huge in portion. Loves the Hae Bee rice balls and the soya chicken. Ordered one curry rice bento which came with lots of chicken (thigh) and curry. Even the potatoes are perfectly cooked and soft! We were so full we can’t finish everything. Will be back!

Service & Ambience were fine & good.
Food portions were appallingly disappointing. Especially their Signature dish – Fish Head Curry. The size of the fish head doesn’t justify for the price of $29.90++.

Curry was lacking in fullness-of-flavour – tasted diluted. Have frequented this place and enjoyed their fish head curry for many years, until today.

Hope something can be done to reinstate the quality on this Signature dish.

Quality of food is ok. Not fantastic but edible and certain dishes are pretty tasty. The laksa goreng was very wet and salty and the soy sauce chicken was very dry and didn’t come with any sauce at all. The rest are decent. Service was slow and staff are not very friendly.

All of which are tasty and well prepare for an evening of fine taste. Curry Times is good for small families and prices are not too expensive. Good outing for small family.

A place for some home cooked inspire meal. Service is good but a bit slow due to staff strength. Curry beef with prata & chicken rendang nasi lemak taste good. Burbor chacha taste nice but all the sago stuck into 1 lump. Chendol too sweet without taste of coconut milk.

Came back to try different dishes. My wife had the curry chicken with prata and enjoyed it. I ordered the rendang chicken nasi lemak. The chicken was okay, but the rice was lumpy.

The grass jelly drink was a little weird tasting in that the jelly tasted a little off, but the coffee and iced lemon tea were okay.

    Service was efficient.

Had egg prata with signature curry
Prata is crispy at the edges and sufficiently soft at the center.
Curry is definitely top ranking but not exactly the best.
Mix the 2 above and you’ll enjoy one of the best tea break menu you can have .
For Curry Times management, please look into improving a fuss free menu ordering experience . Patrons sometimes clueless on how to begin their patronage of your restaurant .
Overall an ‘atas’ experience at your joint. TQ.

Food is good as expected from Old Chang Kee. They have got it right by going with the nostalgic look and feel of the place and the way food is served. Service is attentive.

Try the beef brisket but not with the ramen, they somehow did not go well together. Nasi lemak was lacking the fragrance of coconut milk but the sambal chilli and achar made up for that.

i felt like ive time-travelled back to my mum’s era when i stepped into e place. i love e nostalgic look and feel of e place from olden singapore . from e decor, cutleries used, down to the outfit of the wait staff. i guess that was what makes me want to step in and give this place a try!

while waiting for seats, help urself with old-school biscuits at the cashier. complimentary *woot*

    1. curry chicken hor fun
this was OK. wished they gave more chicken and add on a little more spice.

    2. salmon otak
featured as one of the star dish but it was meh. put my expectations high and hit me down low. other than e shape, there is really nothing special about it.

    3. salted egg yolk brinjal
couldnt taste e salted egg yolk at all. too much batter. e brinjal tasted much better after i took away e batter. skip this dish.

    4. “ore ni” (yam dessert)
skip this dish. had better ones elsewhere. cant put a finger to it but it just doesnt taste right. not thick enough maybe? yam taste is not quite there.

so this place is just A-OK for me but would want to give it another shot and try their dry curry rice.

Popular lunch place so there’s usually a queue. But you can get a table quickly if it’s just 1 or 2 pax. Ordered the daily special tomato chicken noodle and was told that there’s only the dry version (though the menu shows it with soup). Found it ok only. First time here, Ordered their signature curry chicken and I would have preferred if their curry was slightly more spicy. Curry Times offers a diverse variety of curry dishes, ranging from the basic chicken curry with rice/bread to more Asian-western fusion dishes like cheese baked curry rice. While the dishes are definitely flavourful and nice, their prices are not necessarily justified. For example, a simple curry with rice/bread, something which would only cost $4 – $5 in a hawker centre or food court, costs $9.90 here. Furthermore, their portions are also pretty standard and there is nothing unique about it which could justify its price. Hence, unless you’re really craving for chicken curry and rice, I would suggest you seek out a more value-for-money establishment to patronise.

Can be a little pricey for “usual” local food that can be found in neighborhood eating places.

However, you pay for what you get in a comfortable air con environment. Curry is fragrant, prata is tasty, fried food are fried well.

May get a little “heaty” for the food choices, so PLEASE drink up as well!

Help yourself to the paper cups or plastic bag provided by the restaurant to take “free” mini colorful sugar coated biscuits as “snacks of past” (refer to photo).

They do sell yummy buns too. Do look out for their evening sale =)

This outlet is more spacious than some. Here you can enjoy the signature curry dishes comfortably in the nostalgic decor to resemble Singapore in 1960s. The portion of the curry chicken is pretty huge and delicious. The curry is the thick kind, goes well with bread too. Other dishes I have tried are the curry chap chye, nasi lemak with crispy fried chicken wing and ngo hiang. Stick to the curries, they are good.

Second visit here. Cosy atmosphere with friendly staff. The menu has more dishes now as compared to the past. We had the chicken curry with prata and dry laksa mee goreng. Both cost $8.90 each. The curry was delicious, with the right amount of potatoes and chicken. Wished there were more curry gravy though. The prata could be more crispy. The dry laksa tasted good too, with fish cake, chicken and a few prawns. The noodles would taste even better with a stronger laksa taste. I still prefer laksa with gravy. Would definitely go back for the chicken curry and nasi lemak.

This place was empty compared to Yishun branch. Yishun was pretty packed!

I tried their chicken nasi lemak before on the Yishun branch but here in Novena I tried the otah and hebie bun.

The otah was just okay, I didn’t get the fish texture because it’s too mushy. The the bun was soft enough but the amount and the taste of hebie compared to the size of the bun made this hebie bun became too salty.

Vote for the best chicken nasi lemak in town!

Stopped by at Curry Times operated by the Old Chang Kee Group. Was looking forward to a curry bun filled with aromatic, rich and tangy curry that made their puffs so popular in the early 1970s. The bun was a soft and sweet but the small dollop of potato, chicken and curry mixture wasn’t much to go around. It tasted like the result of mechanization. Still an amicable afternoon tea snack if you wash it down with the “kopi”.

Arrived 12.35pm. There were 3 groups in front of us. Nobody seemed to be leaving the restaurant. As we were running out of time to start work at 2pm, we decided to take away. After ordering curry chicken and rice and curry chicken with bread, and one kosong prata, we were told the wait will be approximately 15mins. As we waited, we wondered why it took longer than expected. Curry chicken and rice are precooked. Why so long? Maybe short of manpower.
The curry was good. The chicken were generous in portions. We were not disappointed.

Tried the mint chicken, onion omelette, curry chap chye and the $2.50 set which came with a hot drink and roti prata.

The mint chicken curry was full-bodied and the meat was tender; I would recommend you try this if you are looking for something non-spicy. The onion omelette was a generous portion and tasted like how you would expect an onion omelette to taste. On the other hand, the curry chap chye was a let down, being too watery and just not lemak enough.

The roti prata was crispy but tasted like it could have come from a frozen pack, it was served with curry which was pretty good. For $2.50 with a hot drink, I might return and have it again as a breakfast or afternoon snack.

We had a nice meal at Curry Times at Novena Square last week after our appointment. This is a retro theme cafe with good variety of local food.
The place is spacious and clean with good safe distancing measures in place .
We enjoyed our sapid nasi lemak with chicken wing and curry chicken. The food was appetising and the curry tasted great to our liking. The only disappointment was the very long wait to be served with our food after placing order .

Loved the old school vibe that the whole place exuded, from the plates and bowls, to what the servers wore, to the interior design.

Food was authentically Singaporean. Enjoyable even if it was nothing in particular to shout about.

Dry laksa hor fun – interesting taste and nice.

Curry chicken – curry seemed a little bland. Maybe needed more coconut milk.

Curry puff – side dish from the lunch set that we took. Old Chang Kee curry puffs never disappoint.

Coffee chendol – I wasn’t crazy about it. Think I’ll stick to a traditional chendol in future.

Clear chicken soup – came with the set too. Yummy. Reminds me of what my grandma made years ago.

Love the curry chicken set. The food is good. However, they don’t seem to be ready for the e-menu order. After I ordered via QR code, 5 min later, I was told that I needed to scan the QR code again to click something but there was nothing for me to click and ended up is their system issue. Singapore seems to be pushing for technology when some are not ready and is putting the cart in front of the horse causing inconvenience to customers and delay to the service rendered. Would have given them 5 stars but decided not to due to the system issue.

Was there with friend just now. We ordered 2 curry dishes, which came with promo free soups. The soups came, and halfway through our soups, one Chinese female server came over, asked us “you didn’t order the soup, you want pay for it?” End up they sent to our table wrongly, & we drank it without realising that was their ala carte soup.

The server then proceeded to take away our half-drunk soups, when we said no, we don’t want to pay for extra soup.

Walau…. your mistake, but still asked us if we want to pay for it… Wu siao bo. And customer service lacking ah, we already drinking halfway through, you take back to throw away, or to serve the next customers?
