Opened on 5 November 1988 as part of the Phase 2B of the MRT system along with Jurong East and Lakeside stations on the North South MRT Line (NSL) (now part of the East West MRT Line (EWL) since 4 November 1989), the station is located in Lakeside planning subzone adjacent to Yuhua West subzone in Jurong East. Its station code was W10 before being changed to its present form, EW25 in 2001. The station is named after the Chinese Garden, one of many attractions within the Jurong Lake district that this station serves, designed with a curved Chinese roof similar to Lakeside station and provides residents of Yuhua and Parc Oasis with direct rail connectivity to Jurong East Town Centre (Westgate, Jem, IMM, JCube). It is located at Boon Lay Way near the junction with Jurong East Street 31 and Jurong Town Hall Road and is served by Tower Transit Singapore feeder bus service 335 between Jurong East and Jurong West Avenue 1 and SMRT Buses services 180 and 180A between Boon Lay and Bukit Panjang Road.

Clean and quiet station. Very unlike the following station @ Lakeside. If you’re used to exiting at lakeside where you’re met with hustle and bustle of daily commuting, you’ll be glad to know that this station is usually empty, especially at the ground level. Despite having shops like Mr Bean, there isn’t much life around here, which can be a good thing. Sort of? 😛

Anyway, today 21 July 2022, everything remains the same. Pretty quiet here. However, bus service 335 has not appeared over 20 minutes…
