Good quality of foods and traditional techeow menu and delicacies. Not so generous in size and a bit on higher price. Small restaurant with big tables. However, pls keep the support for this local traditional restaurant as not many left. Early reservation recommended.

Great Teochew food! The yam paste (芋泥) is TO DIE FOR. Bit of a wait for the food to be served even when the house is not full, so it’s a good place to have an unhurried & a raucous dinner gathering with the extended fam.

This lovely restaurant is located in a established neighbourhood in Singapore.
Easy to get there be it driving or taking the public transport.
For parking, there are ample lots in front of the restaurant.
This place serves very authentic Teochew dishes.
We had the Lou Hei since it is CNY and they used Wolf Herring (西刀鱼) instead of the very common Salmon. Must try the Orh Ni with Gingko Nuts (银杏芋泥). Not too sweet, very nice.
Place is very 80’s, clean and cosy. Staff are great and helpful.
    Highly recommended!!!!

Went for lunch on a Saturday. Despite making a reservation 6 days before and the restaurant still having empty tables, we were seated at a corner and in front of a refrigerator which the staff had to access frequently. I should say it gave a rather bad first impression. The food was excellent for some dishes and average for others. It also doesn’t serve the chinese tea in small cups before and after meal, which I would expect from a Teochew establishment. Considering the location of the restaurant and the ambiance, I felt it was expensive.

Comparing it with another Teochew Restaurant in town, which runs a membership program, doesn’t charge for hand towels during covid period, whose menu prices are comparable despite the more pleasant ambiance, the choice for a repeat visit is clear.

This is one of the worst Teochew cuisine I have eaten. It is not authentic. Generally, quality of cooking is poor. Food is not tasty and presentation poor. Price points do not justify the quality. The braised goose meat was dry and leathery, not worth $30 for a small serving. Will never patronise again.

Traditional Teochew restaurant . A bit messy, but that’s the Teochew habit.
Don’t bother the gluey/thick fish maw soup (kenna duped by friend). Order the supreme fish maw soup instead.

Was expecting an authentic Teochew culinary experience, I was disappointed by the fairly average standard of food and most importantly, I couldn’t taste the exquisiteness of their food that justified their 3-4x price premium of normal zi char stalls. The hospitality (or lack of) is also contrastingly different for tables with expensive liquors and normal family dinner tables.

That said, there are a couple of good dishes like yellow chives and yam paste (no pic though)

Food is nice and very tentative as the provide different dipping sauce for different food. Personally think the best is the Pan Fried Kuay Teow but not manage to take photo of it. Boss and staff super friendly as they are attentive and willing to spend time to attend all of our questions. Price is abit on the high side, but definitely worth with the quality of food and services that they provide.

Excellent Teochew food. Hard to pick out a favourite from the meaty cold crabs, pig trotter and shark aspic, liver rolls, braised and crispy goose, leather jacket in a very nice bean sauce and chai po kway teow.

Also tried some of their kuehs like the crystal dumplings and a mung bean kueh that resembled a pan fried png kueh but accompanied with lor/braised gravy on the side. Perhaps the only dish that I could find fault with would be the pumpkin pancake (pumpkin and taro rosti with a sprinkling of sugar and ground peanut) that had a faint taste of oil though to be fair was not greasy at all. Ended off the meal with their signature orh nee that had a citrus undertone due to the addition of a mandarin orange.

Service was impeccable. Their actual menu is quite extensive though a condensed version is provided at each table. Prices are slightly steep though I would say it is justified by the quality.

A very traditional Teochew restaurant where the ‘hay zuo’ looks more like sotong balls then the usual ones you find in other Teochew restaurant.

The spicy crayfish mee pok was really delicious. Tried the crispy goose meat, rather unusual.

And ‘orh nee’ was good with small stripes of water chestnut. Nice!

And the staff were friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Even offer a small fork for removing the crayfish meat.

Back here again and this time we tried the raw crab (I’ve seen this on any menu ever in Singapore). It was really good. If you like sashimi, this is the one for you!!!

Came here again recently and try their orh-nee with Mandarin orange. Never tried any orh-nee quite like this and it was simply amazing. You would taste a nice Mandarin orange flavour with each mouthful, the flavour was subtle but really unique and delicious!

I felt I was transported to another era when I stepped into the restaurant with its vintage ambience.

I would highly recommend the following dishes:
    1. Braised teochew sliced goose
    2. Oyster omelette – although it’s not quite the same as the ones sold by hawkers, the oysters are fresh and omeletteis delicious
    3. Yam paste with ginkgo and mandarin – not on the menu. One of the best I had in Singapore

    I also tried:
    1. Crispy fried liver roll and prawn balls
    2. Baked crispy fried goose slice
    3. Fish maw soup
    4. Stir fried kailan with dried sole
    5. Pan fried kway teow with kai lan and radish – my only critique on this dish is that it could have been saltier
    6. Fried yam stick dessert

Their desserts are not listed on the menu. I suggest to pre-book them. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to tried the pumpkin dessert.

The service was excellent, although the price was on the high side.

Dishes are mostly misses with very few hits. My main complaint is that it is very salty – misua, pomfret soup and fried fish bones with bitter gourd. Order selectively if you’re here – fried and braised duck, prawn roll are not too bad.

Although a relatively newcomer in the teochew restaurant scene, the pedigree was evident in every dish. Turns out that owner’s ancestors had started this as a roadside hawker stall a hundred years ago. Even has the well preserved menu framed up as proof, which being a typical teochew ah bah, proudly shows to every single customer (quite sure he must have repeated the same story at least a thousand times)

Slightly on the pricey side but worth it given the finesse and autheticity of the food

Small cosy restaurant that serves authentic teochew food.

The pig trotter jelly was really solid. If you prefer your pig trotter jelly to be firm and packed with ingredients, you’ll like their version. Braised goose was relatively good. Can be more flavourful in terms of the spices. But the portion is generous and the cut is thicker compared to other restaurants. The oyster omelette was a little disappointing as the oysters were really quite tiny. The omelette itself was well fried though. The chai poh kuay teow could have more garlic and chai poh as it is not as flavourful and fragrant as we’d like it to be. The yam paste dessert was too sweet. Perhaps if you intend to order it, don’t stir in all the syrup they poured on top of it. Then it may be good. They added shredded water chestnut which added some texture to the dish. That was a nice touch.

Overall, an above average teochew restaurant. It is quite pricey. $180 for 4 pax. Worth a try but probably won’t come back a second time.

This is a restaurant that I found a touch of the old Teochew cuisine. There are dishes on the menu and there are those that only by recommendation only. The recommended dishes are only those that are authentic Teochew cuisine dishes, like the fried noodle and crab. Besides the delicious food, the service is great. We not only get a room for us to enjoy the party, the owner is also proud to show us his collection and told us the story on how this place is set up. The food is good but way too expensive for an overcrowded restaurant located at a HDB block. The cold crabs are absolutely not worth it at $125 per kg, so two medium sized crabs will cost you $150. They should have at least warned us beforehand. Yam paste for 4 persons is $45!

Authentic Teochew cuisine, especially the orh nee, pan fried kway teow and the jelly pork. My family enjoyed the dinner thoroughly. We ordered takeout for Father’s Day and food was ready on time for collection.
An incident which showed commitment from the boss and staff: our initial order had an item missed out, and the staff promptly scheduled delivery to our place by taxi.

Cosy place serving Teochew food. Friendly staff. An impromptu decision to give the place a try. Other than the portions were a bit small, Food was acceptable. Good teochew food cooked in traditional way. Restaurant is a little smaller but still good for a small family gathering or with friends. The crispy and braised goose combo is great for those who like to try both. The fish maw soup is cooked flavourful and soupy, not too stricky.. the kway teow fried with chai po is fragrant and not only. But the best was the desert Yam paste. Not sweet and the yam was cooked just right making it silky smooth in the mouth. Prices are very reasonable too.

Found this restaurant over the television and turns out the owner was my long lost childhood friend!

Besides that, the food is authetic teochew, the taste is reminicent of food back in the 1960s. The restaurant has been around for a long time, since 1924 when it was helmed by the father of the current boss Jimmy.

Thank you Jimmy for the wonderful experience, where you allowed me to experience the taste of teochew tradition. I highly recommend everyone to try his dishes, they are really good.

Located 5 mins from Boon Keng MRT and even has a carpark right in front so it is very convenient for drivers as well. All prices are GST and Service charge absorbed.

Though food is authentic Teochew, the price is steep. Dessert consisting of just sweet potatoes and yam costs $42 for 8 pax! Cold dish with 3 selections (pig trotters jelly, prawn ball, ngorh hiang) costs $66!

1st time trying this Teochew restaurant. Overall, the food is nice, and the pan fried 菜谱粿条 is fragrant and nice. The staff are very friendly and helpful! We ordered 7 dishes, including 2 cold crabs and a 800g of fish, total bill is about $450. Recommended for those who wish to try Teochew food, if you think the price is ok.

Really authentic Teochew food with homestyle taste, rustic ambience, and most importantly food made with heart and top notch ingredients – owner Jimmy Koh personally heads to Senoko to get his seafood (which you’ll understand after tasting how fresh it is). Definitely worth coming to again and again for family occasions, or if you’re a serious foodie looking to understand more about traditional Teochew food.

It’s our first time visiting this restaurant and it will not be the last. Every dish ordered was delicious and the owner has so much pride in his food he explains how it’s prepared. The fried goose, meepok with seafood and cold crab was good but my favourite of all was their orh nee with mandarin orange. I can’t wait to be back in Singapore again to have it.

The boss who takes orders and payments is always adding extra food or desert to the bill. Out 4 times I went with family and friends, thrice I checked and found error. Only the first time no error, was paid by my boss – he wouldn’t care the amount. I like their teo chew dishes, but bad feeling patronizing and not cheap too.

Very nice Teochew food but sad that business do not seem to pick up.
They are very old school and taste is very authentic. Felt expensive this time, thus the 4 star. 5 star for food. Maybe Google should have a multi-faculty rating system like Zagat. Quality, Service, Environment and Value

Have just had one of the most delicious and old school tasting teochew cuisine. The decor seem to have stood still for the last 30 years but do not be decieved by the outlook of the place.

We had the four varieties combination, house special crispy and raised goose, fried oyster omelette and stewed mustard plant with black mushroom and mood chickens and they were all gems

Every dish that came out was done with much care and thoughts, and there were different and unique accompanying condiments with each dish. It was a Thursday night when we were there and it was relatively quiet, so the boss took us through each dish and how it was being prepared. You can tell how proud and passionate the boss is with each of the dishes.

Our favourite must have been sweet yam paste with Mandarin orange. Itthe Mandarin orange was a specially treated by the boss for the yam paste and there was a nice balance which accentuated the taste of the yam paste. One of the best orh nee ever! The experience was topped up by the hospitality of the boss and the staff who served us. It had been a wonderful dinner experience for the family.

This restaurant served teow jiu food since 1930. You may try their Caipoh kuah teow; looked like carrot cake but not. And their roast goose meat was nice too. I love their pork jelly cube, somehow not easy to find it outside now. Good to try something different.

Disappointed and expensive. The dishes tasted bland. First time in my life that I need to dip with soy sauce. It tastes more like home cook food for my grandparents, but the price tag was too much to swallow. Teochew fish steak, just single slice, cost me $38.50. I rather go A-one claypot house, their deep fried whole fish just $19.90. Definitely won’t return as there are plentiful better teochew authentic restaurants in Singapore.

Accept Credit Cards, Cash and Paynow.

Parking is ample, you can find lots near to restaurant.

    Food:
    5 ⭐️
    1. Beef Meat Ball Soup. The meat ball does not have heavy starch and breaks into pieces when lightly chew. The clear soup is very refreshing.

    2. The crispy and braised Goose is excellent but can be pricey. Worth every bits of it. Eat the crispy ones while hot. They came with 2 sauces for each method of cooking.

    3. Prawn Ball. Small, bite size but very delicious. Portion is a bit small.

    4. Oyster Omelette. This is very good.

    5. ⭐️⭐️ House Special Yam Dessert with Mandarin Orange! Die die must try.
