The shops are opened… but their self ordering kiosks are down. I didn’t bring cash so… I can’t comment.

Heard a lot of issues with the biodegradable packaging…

There are a few franchise outlets here such as Lixin teochew fishball noodles and Yu Kee duck rice and tanjong rhu wan ton noodles and so on. I tried the less well known stalls such as Ah Gong Teochew Noodles but I don’t think they are worth returning for. For example, the broth of the fishball noodles was not hot enough and so the liver could not cooked and was still raw. The Hainanese curry rice was average – the pork cutlet was big but there wasn’t much pork meat in the cutlet.

Less than a month open.. So for now 2stars. For Muslim /Halal, it is spread all over…. Hunt for it. Not many stalls. (only 1selling Malay food). Drinks also I can find 1 only(Kopi Tan) … Disorganise from way I see.

Very nice ambience, the food court has a wide range of foods and beverages. Blue chase card and Merdaka card have at least 10% discount and you can use CDCD FOOD VOUCHERS. The sport facilities are available for your workout.

Not so much people, guess the place is still new

And not all the stall open

Place is big, easy to get loss cause all the group of stall look the same

Visit and walk around the place a few times, and having breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hawker center.
The ambience is pleasant, and cooling. Looking forward for the garden to open, hopefully by end of 2023.
There are few things need to improve:
Direction signboard for toilet is not prominent. You need to be right below the signboard to find the direction arrow, because the signboard is hidden behind other display boards.
The tray return racks are not labeled to easily differentiate between halal and non-halal trays. The label is placed on one side of the two columns rack. This make patrons think that when one column is labeled ‘halal’ then the other column must be ‘non-halal’. Either the signboard be placed in the middle of two columns or just let it be one side halal and the other side non-halal.
Generally there are limited hawker stalls selling breakfast in the morning. Some stalls did open in the morning but the food portion is too large for breakfast. More expensive than some KFC or McDonald breakfast. Stalls should consider selling half-portion for morning breakfast.
The shelter always dripping water to the floor. I understand there is automatic plant watering on top of the shelter. But it seems there is no proper drainage of excess water which causes the drip. Every morning it is like raining in the park. The dripping water will cause algae to build up, and make the floor slippery over time. Once algae builds up, the maintenance cost will go up, fall down cases will increase. Hopefully this can be rectified before accident happened.

They (social enterprises) operate the new hawker centres like a hard core commercial Food Court management system. Hence, I am seeing some issues that raises some concerns,” Mr Seetoh said.
Contract agreements from hawkers at SEHCs revealed that on average, they are paying about $4000 a month on stall rentals.

Then there are a number of hidden charges written inside the contract agreements, like imposing a Gross Turnover Profit percentage, charges for crockery washing, collection and return and even a “brazen clause” that hawkers need to pay a “consultant” $600 a month to have them spot check their food quality and operation.

Layout is bit messy . May be confusing for elderlies . Especially need to go round and round to look at all the stalls and then round and round to find the stall to place order .

NEED ATMS . Esp when most stalls are collecting cash and most prices arent really that affordable .

No digital payment as well for most stalls . No grabpay shopbackpay shopeepay etc .

Tried the Long xiang scissors curry rice . Not bad . Chose the chicken wings and vegs . Pretty decent .

Tried also the wantons noodle from Zhong guo la mian xiao long bao . Wantons skin too thick . But is Authentic . Noodle seems not fully cooked .. very tough and flour-y .

Both stalls service is good and polite .
    Overall experience is pleasant .

Good addition to the area as seems like dont have much eating places around there .

Tried the original putu piring with gula melaka. I think the gula melaka could have been melted a bit more as it was not evenly distributed. That said, the piri was made on the spot so it is nice and hot. Price is reasonable – $3 for four pieces with grated coconut as a side. It is a short walk from Sembawang MRT and next to a park. The 800 seats were nicely spaced out and cool. Toilets were designed to be open air at the wash area. One of the interesting dish was salted duck porridge. Sliced duck more interesting than porridge. There is insufficient parking at the covered carpark but you can park at multistorey carpark across. Give it a try if you are in the hood!

The place has some sporting facilities and a large hall where many people were playing badminton when I arrived. There is a large rooftop garden, but beware and make sure to have mosquito repellent with you because there are many mosquitoes. Other than that, however, the rooftop garden is very beautiful and boasts a large variety of flowers. The hawker center was okay but I felt that there was a small variety of food available. The quality of the food is also pretty standard and nothing special.

Latest of its kind, after Kampung Admiralty and Punggol Oasis, Sports Hub, Tampines Hub and HeartBeat at Bedok which function as great community hubs. It will be catering to the needs of the residents around the vicinity of Sembawang and Canberra, and serving Admiralty, Woodlands, Yishun and Khatib area at extended boundaries due to the convenience of its location.

Houses a couple of swimming pools, one Hawker Centre and a Multi-Purpose Hall. There will also be polyclinic, senior care centre and one of the biggest gym training centre in SG. The latest announcement of the hub will be slated to open in Q3 2022, much anticipation by nearby residents as the town has been in developing stage since 1990s. Though there are shopping places like Sun Plaza, Sembawang Shopping Centre (SSC) and the Canberra Plaza, complemented by neighourhood coffee shops and retails stores, residents here usually go to Chong Pang at Yishun Town for more economical local delights and marketing during weekends, as coffeeshops and malls in Sembwang are normally filled. The opening of the sports and community hub, with hawker centre and various facilities will certainly bring vibrancy and better healthier life to residents of Sembawang and Canberra precinct.

Reaching here by trains or buses are easy as the hub is centrally sited or midway between Sembawang MRT and Canberra MRT, it is bounded by three roads and adjacent to four bus stops for anyone coming by bus. Walking up by foot to the highest point/peak will bring you to the new Library “Canberra House or prevously Old Admiralty House”, yes, it will be the 2nd library in Sembawang, definitely welcome by residents who like to immerse themselves in reading. The other library is at level 5 of Sun Plaza, which is also a stone throw away. Each library will have different focus and await exploring by readers/residents.

Expect embracing of nature and seeing lots of greenery while walking/strolling around the community hub, as it is provided with biophilic and affinity relationship for the residents. Bringing back the certain fauna and flora of the area could be plus point to the area.

Imagine, keeping active with swimming pools, gym and sports activities within the indoor multipurpose hall while enjoying local authentic cuisine at economic price at the hawker centre at Bukit Canberra could be a bliss.

It is expected to open progressively from third quarter of 2022 as of latest news update.

Slight backtrack half a century and a bit of history on the plot of land sited on the corner was previously Sembawang Hawker Centre and Wet Market in 1960s to 80s before its land was acquired. It was a hustle and bustle wet market and food centre in the morning and “zi zhar” place by the evening. Many stalls operated from morning till late evening catering to the needs of the Chong Pang Village nearby and workers of the Sembawang shipyards which run non-stop 365 days 24/7 since colonial time.

For those who missed the 1970s Sembawang Zi Zhar, which served traditional zi-zhar dishes, there is one stall remain, available at Blk 505 coffeehouse, which is just across the hub/hawker centre.

Much anticipation and looking forward to the opening of the facilities and one and only one Hawker Centre at Bukit Canberra (Sembawang Integrated Hub) in Sembawang, cheers.

A very new hawker centre, layout no good because like a maze! Easily loose directions! Price $4 to $10. Stall selling steam or fried dumplings not bad. Korean stall Saba & chicken or beef only $6.20. Fried away teow, hokkien mee so so only.

Quite a large variety of food. However, halal food is dispersed all throughout the food court and you will need to walk all around to see all the halal food available.
Props to the Indian Rojak Stall, their gravy really quite solid.

When driving, google maps does not point you to the right direction for the entrance ( since some parts around the area is still under construction) so take note.

Quick tip, if you happen to have a healthassist/pioneer generation/ merdeka generation card, youll get a 10% off!

Cash accepted only so far as well.

Kway Teow is meh. Ordered a couple without cockles but still received cockles (yay?). The cockles didn’t have any fishy smell and taste to them (honestly wouldn’t have noticed them if I wasn’t paying attention), which was kind of disappointing to me.

    Ah Gong Teochew Noodles
Fishball noodles are a little sour.

    Pakcik Kampung
Not a fan of the satay sauce, it was too sweet.

    Kopi Tan
Hot Milo was strangely bland (how the hell do you mess up Milo). Lime juice was too watery. Kopi is better here.

    Kopi Satu
Kopi is not as good here.

    Scissor rice
Set 4 is good. Curry is good.

    Salted chicken
    Too salty.

    Arabest
    Chicken kebab is good.

I dislike the layout of the place, albeit how spacious it is.

Despite opening the Hawker Centre. Do note that not all stores are open. Currently only cash is acceptable. No paynow yet. App for payment are still not available yet as well. No ATM can be found, so you need to walk back to the mrt station to withdraw. Also, please don’t drive there, parking is really bad and badly designed too.

Short walk from Sembawang MRT. Drop off and carpark entrance is at road along the MRT track. Not sure why GPS indicate to turn right after the station. Quite a big place with different clusters blocks of stalls. So you cannot just make one round to see all the stalls. Toilet signage lacking. Place is wheelchair friendly and generally the stalls here are eco friendly too (like straws not offered). Cleaners quite responsive when I inform of a spill on the floor. From BBQ stingray to satay, to lok lok or ngoh hiang.. Western to porridge. Am sure there something to please everyone. Went twice on cooling night so we don’t really feel warm. Now Christmas festive so there’s a lot of night light making it a pretty place. (Currently at the Sembawang mrt stn there’s a pasar malam ongoing… So can also tapao some stuff before heading home. )

Explore new eateries & get reunited with yummilicious Indian food whose main outlets are in West Coast. Yes!!! That awesome rojak & fried bee hoon places. Don’t need to travel all the way to the west anymore.

There is also the Begerak burgers, with mouth-watering meat patties, and next to it is the authentic Turkish kebab outlet with scrumptious lambshank mandhi & freshly made kunefe! Can’t wait to try the other stalls too.

It’s very far away from civilisation here in Canberra, especially if you don’t stay in the area. The main things are not right next to the train station, which also means you’ll need to either walk, or drive over from the main MRT station. Carpark is a little limited, and sheltered walkways from place to place is not connected.

Other than the sports facility and the hawker centre, you may not need the other facilities on the daily.

Even if I compared this integrated area to the one that’s at Tampines (conceptually similar), that seemed to be much better thought through.

Big hawker centre with many different types of food. The scissors curry pork chop is pretty good portion size. Would prefer if there are more signs to indicate where the toilet and central tray return point as the layout is pretty similar. A map of the whole hawker centre will also be good.

Bukit Canberra is a huge place and is only partially completed. Currently, only the sports hall and the hawker center is ready. The gym, swimming pool, poly clinic is still work in progress.

Went on a weekday night to the hawker centre. Like what many people have commented, the hawker layout is difficult to remember. It consists of hexagonal blocks and each block has a few stalls. There are a number of stalls not opened on a weekday night and the crowd is limited. I think more completed facilities will be required to bring more people here…..right now, it will be difficult to pull the crowd in.

Can’t comment much on the food….so far eaten food from some stalls. Those that I tried, have to say none stands out. Will prob write more details when I have tried more options.
