Easy to get lost here depending on which entrance you come in from. The main entrance from Neil Rd is the most convenient for me, restaurants, Taxi stands and car park. Further inside is The Ginger Garden with sit-down restaurants that are great for evening soirees.

Singapore Botanic Gardens is a World Heritage site and my favourite go to place for a walk, dining, or just simply relaxation. Besides the wonderful rich plants, trees and fauna, one can also see the plentiful wild animals of monitor lizards, chickens, squirrels, swans etc. On given weekends, one can pack a picnic lunch to hear the SSO and other performers perform on the ‘floating’ stage on the north end lake.

There is a very convenient mrt station in one of the entries. Be prepared to walk a lot, I spent 5 hours there and did not cover all of it. You can enjoy tree shade in several area of the park, remember to take water with you, there are drinking spots and you can refill your bottle. The orchids garden has an entrance fee of 5 SG dollars, but there are discounts for elders, students and other categories depending on the season. Pick nick is allowed and there are some restaurants throughout the gardens – didn’t try any of them when I was there though.

The plant life is really lush and vibrant at the station entrance. Some, but not much, seating is available, but not much shade if the sun is out. You can exit the MRT and go straight into the Botanic Gardens – great for tourists or families coming for an afternoon of exercise and nature. The MRT is on both the downtown and the circle line, so it is also very convenient. Inside, it goes three storeys down and is very cooling. One of the nicer MRTs so far.

Great place to relax and exercise. MRT has made the place more accessible. So much improvements have been done to the place. With the place so big it will be nice to have more cafe corners to chill. The existing one need improvement to the food and less expensive. Better and accurate signages will be great. I remembered trying to look for Jacob Ballas and every sign I passed said It is 150 metres away. It was frustrating especially when you have 2 kids in tow and not able to find the place. A place I always recommend to visitors.

It is a huge park that stretch from Bukit Timah to Holland Road. The Bukit Timah section is the newer one and it includes the children garden with play areas for kids, Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden. However, this garden is off limit to adults unless they are with their kids. The original garden has a wide variety of flowers and landscaping to explore. It even has a rain forest area that is fully board-walked so walking is a breeze. It will need time to explore so plan ahead and decide where to go. The National Orchid Garden section is a must for orchid lovers but there is admission fee involved. Best time to visit a park in Singapore is early morning or late afternoon.

In the foliage gardens, there is the most beautiful jungle landscaping on a colossal scale. This “park” is miles ahead of almost all botanical gardens in the world, just by the sheer scale of the variety of plant species, the obvious long-term vision, the heritage that is already preserved, and the detailed maintenance alone. Most developed countries don’t sink budgets into “plants,” and as a result their greenery reservoirs are mostly sad and scholarly. This is truly a world-class garden not just for tourists but for botany tourists – very little on the globe can compare. In terms of the visitor experience, if you are looking for a quick relaxing hike or walk, this will also suffice, the walking paths are several km long and go through many different sections. There is enough shade in many areas from different types of foliage (clumps of bamboo, or taller understory trees in other sections) to give shelter from the usually very hot sun. There are very wide swathes of lawn and sloping stretches of grass to sit on too, if that is allowed. There are at least TWO very large ponds to run around or sit by, and gazebos all over the place. There are ducks, and it looks like there are still swans, and there are what seem like hundreds of wild chickens strutting around. A good full-day visit.

Botanic gardens MRT is very busy during the morning (7.30am-8.30am) and evening peak hours (5pm -7pm). Trains would be quite crowded at the circle line side more so towards Habourfront in the morning and reverse in the evening. The downtown line is similar, the traintowards bukit panjang is not very crowded as compared the train to expo during morning hours. Other hours, it is still relatively busy but one can embark on the train easily.

Occupying a lot of space, the park is carefully organized and planned! As a green space in the city, it is appropriate to take on the green space to regulate the urban area and relieve the pressure! There is also a child garden for children!

Mr Jeya was ever ready to listen and offer assistance immediately.
He brought me to a resting room.

I applaud and appreciate MrJeya for his outstanding commendable warm and caring attitude.

He was very genuine when he checked in on me to ask whether I need to seek medical attention.

    Thank you Mr Jeya.

MRT station with a convenience store and dental clinic. There is a lift to get to the other side of the road. The car pick up and drop off point is also conveniently located right in front and before the bus stop. Good design.
