As usual, the food is consistent, served at Super speed and at a decent price. The only food that I have tasted so far in their menu that is not worth ordering is their fried tang hoon. Taste and looks weird. Do call before going especially if u r coming fr afar.

A neighborhood Thai Chinese style restaurant. It’s fully air conditioning and clean. The food is more towards a homely feel, as though it’s cook by your grandmother. Price is on the average side but the food is definitely worth the price. Portion is quite big and definably can fill your tummy. Try the pineapple fried rice with Thai chill fried fish. It’s crispy and fragrant to go along with the rice. Fried sotong is also a hot favorite.

While the taste could have been better, you cannot fault the speed of food being serve and for just SGD123 we enjoyed 2 whole fishes, prawns, squid, fish maw soup, pineapple fried rice, rice vermicelli, and vegetables. Not the best ambiance, not the freshest, not the best toilet but definitely 5 star for value. Drinks are purchased separately.

Great service!! Went on a Sunday night around 7, and there were a lot of people in line waiting. However, we were told that there would only be a 15 minutes wait. To our surprise, it really only took 15 mins for them to get us a table. While we were waiting, they took our order. By the time we sat down, it only took about 5-10 mins before all of our food arrived (which probably explains their fast turnover). The food was overall decent and affordable. We order their most of their signatures and some other dishes: pineapple fried rice, fried sotong, honey chicken, fried grouper, friend kailan, and Tom yam soup. With the exception of the first three items mentioned, we wouldn’t order those items again. Unfortunately, the fried grouper (one of their signatures) was not very fresh; perhaps we were the unlucky ones because it seemed as if other parties were enjoying theirs. That said, when we informed the staff about the fish, they were quick to offer a replacement. And when we did not want a replacement, they graciously offered to cancel it off our bill. Really fantastic service! Just because of that, we will definitely come back and try their other items.

Have been eating here for more than 20 years.
Just to be clear, they are not a authentic Thai restaurant. More like a Tze Char place that does up Thai influenced dishes for local palates.
Nevertheless, for good food at very reasonable pricing, this is a good choice.
Waiting times for weekend dinner can be long if you are fussy for AC dining only. Good tip will be to opt for both in and outdoor seating areas. The place is windy enough to not work up a sweat.
Must try the Signature fish, fried cuttlefish and pineapple rice.

If you happen to be around the area, and have not yet discovered this neighbourhood gem, you’re missing out!

This Zi Char restaurant serves a good variety of affordable and decent portioned sized dishes, a good place to have a meal whether with a couple of close friends, or with a family.

Wait staff are typically friendly, and the shop itself has a very familial vibe.

I’ll be returning here for sure!

1 of the Best choice to spend a decent meal especially in the northern part of Singapore. Food Quality , pricing , portion , environment and customer service are all well reasonable. Waiting time may pose lengthy during weekends or public holidays.Indoor air-conditioned seating is highly recommended. Good for eaters who prefer typical spicy Asian flavours .

This chinese-thailand fusion cuisine is well known in Yishun and has been operating in this location for many many years. There was a very similar style serving tze char stall at Yishun industrial canteen beside an indian temple (rumoured to be operated by family member), but a pity that it has been closed.

Their popular dishes include fried fish, fried squid, honey glazed chicken, pineapple rice and tom yum.

Fried fried fish maintained the standard of crispy surface and juicy meat. The fish was well fried that the, head, fins and soft bones were crispy enough to be eaten yet not too oily. It goes well with their special chilli sauce that came with the fish.

Pineapple rice and tom yum were good as well when compared to many other chinese-thai style eateries.

When it comes to the honey glazed chicken, the meat were so tough that we had a hard time to chew, which wasn’t what we had before. The meat of fried squid was also tougher than before but at least it is able to chew. Whereas for the vegetable, I would choose other options in the menu rather than the ordered spicy kang kong.

The dishes were served up really fast, less than 10 mins to have most of the dishes served on our table if I recalled correctly.

Affordable food at affordable rates. Fried fish was crispy and compliments really well with the chilli. Another favourite was the fried cuttlefish, served with 2 types of chilli, combination of both is even better. Would be good to call in to make reservation and order in advance. They serve their food really quickly upon seated as well.

The price was reasonable and the portions were generous. Have to order the deep fried cuttlefish and pineapple fried rice when you’re there. The Tom Yum soup were too sweet for my taste and the vegetables cooked with belachan were too salty. Lime juice was dope and only cost $1.60.

Paid $138 for 8 persons dinner after I jokingly feedback that the 咕噜肉 was hard when the boss came to collect payment and asked for feedback at the end of our meal. Then, the boss immediately gave $2 discount (original bill was $140) Well, the 咕噜肉 was in fact hard to me.

    – The pineapple fried rice has sufficient wok hei.
    – The sauce of the claypot toufu was flavourful and the prawns were fresh.
    – The sambal kangkong was ok.
    – The fried sotong was chewy but it was a bit bland.
    – The steamed cod fish with soya sauce was nice.
    – The fried fish was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sauce that came with it was mildly spicy and tasty.
    – The tom yum soup was mildly spicy and tasty too.

Service was friendly and efficient. The serving of food started after 5 minutes we had finished ordering. There was not much of waiting time.

This is not a Thai place, so don’t come here expecting traditional Thai food. But that aside, this is probably the most value for money restaurant style seafood zichar you will ever encounter. Food is fantastic, especially pineapple fried rice, fried sotong, and fried squid. There’s also crabs if you feel rich. Price is nett and really not expensive at all. But the most amazing thing is how organized every single one of their staff member is. It’s like you should come and have dinner just to experience the sheer efficiency (without sacrificing on politeness and professionalism) of them despite the crazy long queue. If you are a restaurant owner, just come here and learn from them lol. I’m not, but I’ll go back again and again just for the food lol

Visited the place for lunch and it was not crowded when we arrived, crowd started to arrive after awhile! Had a hearty and filling lunch that was reasonable priced even thought we ordered small portion for all. The honey chicken and pineapple fried rice seemed like hot favourites as it was ordered by most of the patrons there at that time! The honey chicken seemed like it was prepared differently as the meat was slightly larger pieces and more juicy. Slightly disappointed with the fish maw soup as it was a little too salty to taste. However portion is enough for 4, if you just want a small bowl each. Else is enough for about 2 small bowls per person. Washed it all down with the standard lime juice that is also a popular choice when visiting this place. Overall a good meal for two, and would recommend! Will come back and order the fried fish next time when we have more people to share

Went on Sat night during CNY period and it was super crowded over 70 people waiting. Have to tell them your name + pax and place order before they start putting you in queue. Generally moves quite fast despite of the horrendous queue but everyone needs to be present. Lou lei more expensive as it was abalone to replace fish. Love their pineapple fried rice as usual. Vegetables were just nice not overcooked. Love their fish maw soup (standard drop compared to past 3 visits) and deep fried fish (goes very well with the chilli). Black pepper chicken was ok. Overall Value for $$!

Not a high end restaurant, but Bei Sheng gives you a bang for your buck with more than decent quality. I’ll recommend the fried calamari strips, pineapple fried rice and hot & sour soup.

I ate here since young and i have always loved their food. The cereal prawns, tom yum soup, fried fish, fried sotong and kang kong are a must try! The pineapple fried rice is good as well. It can get really crowded during peak periods so there may be quite a wait. There is an indoor seating with air conditioning and outdoor seating with fan. The price is reasonable and its great for big groups.

    Updated 15 Feb 2022:

Food is nice at reasonable cost, though there may be occasional drops in quality if very busy.

A thai-chinese fusion restaurant, it is a local chong oang institution. Queues can be up to an hour or more during peak periods, but their food serves fast so you don’t have to wait long once you do have a table.
Its food is rarely wrong, and the staff do take note of your feedback. It has a habit of rounding down bills, so a bit of extra PR service there. Good place for family meals and celebrations, though not really for dates.

Grew up eating their food since the old sembawang shopping centre basement food court. With memories of the boss with his army of children taking charge of the whole operation and the boss always rounding down the bill. Food has always been good and affordable. However, since they were forced to close down the outlet at the industrial coffeeshop, food standard been dropping year by year. My all time favourite honey chicken went from delivering exceptional goodness to just sweet soggy chicken. I will still return for the nostalgic sake but if this continues, I am not sure how long more this will last.

5 of us queued to have dinner in this popular restaurant. Have to place order while in queue before signed a table inside air-conditioned restaurant or a sheltered outdoor area. Staffs seems super efficient in getting everyone organised, with chairs around for guests waiting in line. Pretty pleasant.

Greatest satisfaction comes from the speed dishes are served once you are seated, and every dish is well executed. We had 5 dishes: Signature Pineapple Fried Rice, Fish Maw Soup, Fried Fish in 3 Flavour, Stir Fried French Beans and Fried Chicken in Honey Sauce. Every one of them exceeds expectation. Portion exceeds value and pricing is fair and super affordable. We paid just $98 excluding drinks. This is value. Will return for sure.
