I came here for the old school hainanese chicken rice and was not disappointed. I ordered half a chicken in both roasted and white flavours and both were very much tender however I preferred the latter. The boss was nice enough to give me pieces of char Siew which I didn’t order and explained that it’s home made. I would be back for sure!

Did I mention I paid only 12 bucks for half a chicken and 2 plates of rice?

Take note of the long queues and fact that they might sell out around lunch time.

On the hawker center side, I find this hawker center lost in time as prices are much lower as compared to other locations

Roasted chicken rice has the nice glaze of chicken fat oil, chicken is flavorful and chilli sauce has the exact flavor I like in chicken rice chilli sauce! Every once in a while you may find a bone or two (closes early, maybe 3.30 pm)
The Western stall two shops down has a delicious chickenwing set that has no bread batter, just yummy marinated chicken (open till 9.30ish pm)
Just around the corner, closer to KFC, is a homemade bau/pau shop where the kind auntie makes me favorite char sewing bau. Very savory And sweet. Lots of flavor. The meat fills every corner of the inside of the bun, and the bun is thick enough to enjoy the pudgy pudgy texture with your fingers.

Half of the number of stalls are opened for breakfast/lunch. Looks like the rest are targeting dinner. Tried the popular kway chup from guang Liang cooked food. The braised intestines and pork belly are good and accompanied well with their chilli. The broth in the kway is too plain and light flavoured for my liking, almost like drinking boiled water with a tinge of salt and garlic. Noticed that a person queuing ahead asked for more braise stock to be added to the kway, now I know why.

Bedok Reservoir Food Center is just like any other neighbourhood food center. It has a very popular prata and tosai stall which always have some Q in the morning til early afternoon. Its one of the cheapest prata amd tosai stall around. And the good thing about it is the prata is always made fresh upon ordering unlike some prata stalls where the pre cooked the prata a few minutes before. Also its location is very convenient when you need to do marketing. There are several traditional provisions stalls which carry fresh vegetables and a Giant supermarket .

Many stalls are closed in this hawker centre, no idea why. I’ve been here many times, only few stalls are opened, whether you come here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is worst only 2 or 3 stalls are open. I haven’t tried any food that’s memorable.

Morning hawker center that most stalls will close after 3pm. Has the usual local hawker food like chicken rice, vegetarian, pancakes and coffee stalls.

Toilet here is clean and well maintain.

The market has also a wet market and dry stalls selling cofee powder etc.

Shun hua coffee stall, #01-29 their coffee and tea are nice.

Xiang ji chicken rice is also nice but presentation is quite messy. The rice has a nice aroma to it when eaten

Granny pancake is nice but small piece for the price you pay for it

Leaving a 5-star review cos I saw the ratings were on a lower end. I grew up around the neighborhood and have been eating at this food centre for many many years. Food are affordable and very local. Some of the nicer stalls (for if you’re not a local around here) are the cai tau guay (stir-fried carrot cake), char kwey tiao (stir fried kwey tiao), the chicken rice, the sliced fish noodles, the vegetarian, the dessert stall, soya bean, laksa, kway chap, yong tau fu… I can go on to list every single stall but let me stop here so you can try for yourself;)

Our family grew up near this neighbourhood hawker centre. Well-ventilated with clean toilets. There’s also a wet market on the upper deck. Nestled within an enclave of provision shops, small hardware stores and beauty salons, even fast food giants like McD, KFC and Dominos have set up shop here.

Notable stalls include the Guang Liang Kway Chap, Wanton Mee, Xiang Ji Chicken Rice, Cheng Jia Soy Sauce Chicken Rice, Char Kway Teow, Carrot Cake, Vegetarian, 食福记 for their Lor Mee, Pancakes, Braised Pig Trotters.

Mostly open from mornings to early noons just after the lunch hours. Note that stalls may close sporadically.

Minutes away and made accessible by the Bedok North mrt station, this quiet and well hidden gem has lots to offer for everyone.

My personal favourite stall is Xiang Ji chicken rice, authentic Hainanese styled chicken rice made by a trio of Hainanese folks. Fragrant chicken rice, savoury chicken and Hainanese chilli made especially for its chicken. At $2, $2.50 and $3, it’s probably the one of the most affordable and best tasting chicken rice you’ll ever try when you’re in the vicinity.

And ever so once in a while when I’m busy rushing for work, a pit stop at Granny’s Pancake would suffice for me. Ranging from the classic coconut, red bean, peanut and yes… The power pack peanut butter flavoured pancake, the taste and texture of the pancakes is sure to fill your belly if you don’t have the time for a full meal but would probably like to.

Another personal favourite beverage stall would be Shun Hua coffee stall. The silent but resilient uncle can whip up a decent Teh “C” (tea with evaporated milk) with just the right taste for my taste buds. Definitely the best drink to start my mornings!!
