Chic and large restaurant serving delicious and spicy Indonesian food. I tried the Ayam Taliwang chicken thigh and the meat was tender and well-marinated. The sour soup was delicious, not just flat sour taste but with some depth. It would be good if there was a slightly bigger chunk of corn cause it was almost paper-thin. Pretty amazing to be able to slice the corn this thin though.
It was my first time trying the side of fried corn fritter that came with the chicken dish and it was crisp and chewy at the same time, delicious side as well.

The highlight was the belachan/spicy shrimp sauce served on the side. That explodes in the mouth when the chili hits. Not for the faint-hearted. The spiciness is almost akin to chili padi-spicy. But it is slightly tart as well, so it spurs the appetite and is really good when paired with the meat and even simply on plain rice.

Ever since moving to the west coast area, I’ve been frequenting this place with the missus due to their authentic Lombok (read : lip smacking spicy!) ayam taliwang available in a mild and spicy variants. Love the char from the grilled chicken breast (not dry!) /thighs. They aren’t stingy with the sambal merah and ijo, feel free to request more to challenge your taste buds. The ayam taliwang set came with a crispy corn fritter, bakwan and a bowl of tangy Sayur Assam. Friendly staff and crew makes for an enjoyable meal at the shop itself (non HA or CB period) or for a quick takeaway. Highly recommended!

One day as we drove past Pasir Panjang Road, we noticed this Ayam Taliwang SG Restaurant that claimed to have the hottest chicken on the planet. The name “Ayam Taliwang” has filled me with memories of my trip to Lombok and its in the “To-Eat” list while being there in Lombok.

Considering the crowd on a Saturday, there were not many customers. Perhaps for this pandemic period, it will be more convenient for customers to grab them via food delivery orders.

Service is friendly and when you enter the restaurant, you will notice that on the left side of the wall, it explains the history of Ayam Taliwang Senggigi Lombok in summary.

Ayam Taliwang’s menu was rather standard, besides the set menu, it has noodle, fried rice, side dish, soup and appetisers, which makes up of about 17 items on the menu. Initially, I wanted to order their Avocado Juice (Jus Alpukat) but it was not available during my visit. In the end, we ordered the Lime Juice (Jus Jeruk Nipis).

The set menu serves with steam rice, corn fritters and spicy sour soup. Chilli was served in a sauce and was not mixed onto the plate. The seasoning of the chicken thigh was yummy and I love the corn fritters that come with the set.

Unlike the usual practise in Indonesia where food often comes cold, Food in Singapore like this is served warm/hot.

If you are drinking the soup, you may want to get prepared at the first spoonful as the spiciness really choke me during then.

The set’s portion and presentation were exactly the same as the non-spicy version just that the chicken thigh was coated with a chicken thigh that is coated with spiciness. Also, the chilli was served on the plate instead.

With such level of spiciness, it really can do justice to its name saying that its the “hottest chicken on the planet”.

Lightly battered Fried Squid was perfectly deep-fried to its golden perfection. We enjoy the freshness of the squid with light crisp coated in its exterior. For a more spicy kick in enjoying this side dish, you can deep into the green chilli provided.

For those who enjoy spicy Indonesian food, this is the closest taste you can get for Ayam Taliwang in Lombok.

I had my food to go. Chicken breast meat (Ayam Taliwang Dada) was quite hard, so maybe I’ll try the chicken thigh (Ayam Taliwang Peha) next time. BUT the star dish for me was the Soto Medan with Ketupat. It was SO GOOD. Staff were really nice and helped to rush out my order because I was in a rush. Thank you!

Authentic Indonesian Ayam Taliwang. Mildly spicy but OK. The price is affordable, SGD 7.2 for Ayam Taliwang (a large chunk of breast and it’s boneless!) + white rice (free flow!) + Sayur Asam + Bakwan Jagung. Bakwan Jagung is also very nice here.

Ordered 2 chicken thighs, one spicy, one mild. I’ve had this couple of years ago and the spicy version still has a good kick, but the quantity is too little. It used to cover the entire chicken but now it can be barely seen as per the photo… the corn fritter is pretty tough as i guess it has been fried much earlier on, and the soup is spicy and sour – too sour for my liking but will appeal to others. The chicken seems to be rather small too. Too expensive for this quantity/quality (almost $10 per plate).

I happened to visit during the month of Ramadan, so it could be the right choice for a place to break the fast. The friendly owner provides dates for us to break our fast, and those who want to add rice are given free. A very clean place, tables, floors, sinks make us more confident about the cleanliness of the food. As for taste, it’s not bad, it’s delicious. My husband’s favorite here is the corn fritters.

Finished my walk at West Coast Park and decided to take home 2 sets of spicy chicken (comes with rice, corn fritter and soup)!

Usually the soup in a set is disappointing, but this one was not…. Spicy and flavourful

Chicken lived up to its name and I loved the fact that it is quite spicy . The quality of the chicken was good too, it did not smell.

    Definitely going back

Excellent Indonesian food, was so eager to taste it that I forgot to take a pic
The grilled chicken is marinated nicely in Taliwang style (even the chicken piece is much much bigger than the original, which uses very small kampung chicken which not available outside Indonesia). I’d recommend to order the mild version as the chilli in the spicy one is too overwhelming the taste of the marinate.
Sup buntut (oxtail soup) is nice as well.
Service is excellent, very friendly staff!

    The hottest chick in Singapore…

I just can’t resist such a claim – the hottest chicken in Singapore. I have driven past this Indonesian restaurant many times and I just have to stop this time to verify their claim.

Sadly, parking is really not an option and therefore have to “Da Bao” (packing the food) and eat at home. I ordered the hottest chicken and the mild one, just to make a comparison. I also bought sop buntut.

After tasting the hottest chicken, I do accept that it is really spicy hot, may not be the hottest in Singapore but definitely top 5. The mild spicy ones are pleasant and sweet. The sop is a little disappointing as I have tasted better ones in Indonesia.

Anyway, I loved the polite and friendly staff which is why I gave this place 4 star ratings.

Liked their sides, the soup, corn fritters and sambal kangkong were tasty. But the portion for kangkong was very small, disappointing especially when vegetables are cheap and doesn’t cost much to add more.

!!! S E D A P !!! One of the few places in SG that make decently hot chili. Chili-heads can try the default amount of chili and then work your way up to 2 separate addon sides of their chili. The chicken thigh is marinated for 2 hours and the meat falls off the bone. Super juicy, skin tastes like it’s grilled on both sides. Soup has a hint of chili and lots of corn and spices (note : hot != spicy ; those are 2 completely separate things). Corn fritter is done really really well as well Will definitely be coming back again!

Update : 2nd time as good as the 1st, if not better. Asked them to make it even hotter and they obliged. Ultimate Sedap! Fantastic, Baby

Yes, very spicy indeed. Chicken portion size is a bit small. Clean and fast service. You can ask for the lowest level of spice, which is probably the normal spicy level. Medium level is already very hot.

Recommended by a friend who loved spicy food, and it is not disappointed. We ordered the chicken thigh and promfret sets, and both taste very good. The spiciness is great (one must be careful of the chilli that comes with the meal). The corn fritters is surprisingly good though it looks simple and not very appetizing. Great foods but overall it is a little overpriced.

When they said “hottest chicken in the planet”, they weren’t kidding. If you can take your spice, I recommend just keeping it spicy, and not extra spicy. Then douse the flames with their avocado and gula melaka drink. Definitely worth it.

Easy to access, a good place to try different flavor of Indonesian grilled chicken

Had a good lunch stop that day. Only had the guts to try the mild spicy but the chicken was juicy and tender. Variety is limited and a bit pricer than the standard lunch.

Great spicy chicken. Get the fish too. Very authentic Indonesian side dishes.
