A Night Out in London

A Night Out in London

What would be a night in London without hitting the pub-crawl? You can’t visit any foreign city and not have a chance to hangout with the locals. There are many great bars and pubs located throughout the city. If you elect to take “The World’s Greatest Pub Crawl” be prepared to visit twenty-eight different pubs.

“The World’s Greatest Pub Crawl” is a great way to visit the locals; in fact you’ll meet locals at twenty-eight different pubs all over London. The pub-crawl consists of buying a train ticket and you take it to twenty-eight different pubs in London. There are a variety of different styles and atmospheres in each of the different pubs but it is a great way to meet locals. You will hear a variety of accents as the locals join together in the pub for a great tasting ale, stout, cider or malt whiskey. Pubs, however, are only open until 11pm so you may have to find another place to party if you don’t get started early.

Dance clubs are all the rage in British towns, but they come and go like water. Time Out is a local entertainment newspaper that will have all the information on the hottest dance clubs. Dance clubs are the best place to find the twenty and thirty something Brits. They offer a mixture of locals and visitors and are the busiest at 1-2am. A few dance clubs are the Cecil Sharpe House (features folk dancing), The Edge, Sound, G.A.Y., and Heaven. There are also a variety of jazz and blues bars throughout London as well.

If beer and dancing are your style and you prefer a little more sophistication in your entertainment then you may want to visit the opera or theatre. London currently has five major orchestras. These include the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC Symphony and the BBC Philharmonic. There are also many small orchestras that feature historical instruments. The Savoy Opera features great shows such as The Marriage of Figaro and The Barber of Seville. This great opera company can be found at the Savoy Theater. The Savoy Theater was built in 1880 and is also home to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Fringe Theater has become very popular in London and Fringe theatres are placed throughout the city. These theaters offer alternative styles with plays, dramas and musicals. The cost to these shows are generally lower as they are not ran by the big theater companies. “The Official London Theater Guide” is a great way to find out more information on theaters in London, what shows are playing and where you can get tickets. If the weather is nice you may find the Open Air Theater in Regent’s Park to be the place to go. The theater features Shakespeare and other more modern artists. The prices are reasonable and the theater is located in Regent’s Park where a lot of other great London sites are located. Most shows are held at night but there are also a few afternoon shows as well. Currently there are many great musicals playing in the theaters from We Will Rock You, Mamma Mia!, The Producers, Les Miserables, The Rat Pack , Evita, Mary Poppins, to Dirty Dancing and more.
